FAQs
Do I need to bring any equipment?
No. All equipment is provided, however if you have your own you are welcome to bring it.
What should I wear/bring?
Vermont weather and temperatures vary greatly and can change hourly. A very chilly morning can turn into a hot and humid afternoon. Clear skies can quickly turn to clouds and rain showers. A rain jacket is recommended along with layers of clothing that can be easily added or removed and worn or carried along on the trip. During cooler months wearing a layer underneath the waders we provide is recommended along with warm socks. During the hot months of July and August, we may be “wet wading” which means that we will be going in the water without waders so you can wear shorts or lightweight hiking pants. Also plan to wear shoes or boots that you don’t mind getting wet (if we will be casting/fishing on the pond) and bring extra set of dry clothes just in case!
Do I need to be in good physical shape?
Walking and wading trips can sometimes be physically challenging due navigating slippery rocks and water currents. Float trips are less physically taxing but still involve getting out of the boat and walking/wading at times. We understand that some customers may have physical limitations, and we can often make adjustments to our trips as needed. Please inform us if you have any concerns or questions.
Do I need a license?
Yes, you can purchase a Vermont fishing license (1 day, 3 days, a week or a full season) online through Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department. Occasionally we will be fishing a stream or two in New York, in which case you can purchase your license here through the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Online Licensing System.
What if we need to cancel or reschedule?
A 50% deposit is required at the time of booking. If you cancel or need to reschedule more than 10 days prior to the date of your trip your deposit will be refunded in full. If cancellation is received less than 10 days before the trip the deposit will be non-refundable unless you would like to apply it to a future trip.
Can I bring my dog?
Unfortunately, we cannot have pets on our trips, however, we can assist with making arrangements for boarding or pet-sitting during your excursion.
What if there is bad weather?
We fish in all weather, including rain. Unless the weather presents a safety issue, such as thunder and lightning or flooding conditions, we will plan to be on the river.
Can we keep the fish?
CRO Fly Fishing practices Catch and Release fishing only.
Should I tip the guide?
Tips are not expected, however they are greatly appreciated! If you would like to tip but are uncertain about the amount, it is customary to tip 15%-20% of the cost of your trip. Thank you!
